Teton Beacons

This is one of my bucket list photos. It was such a magical morning. The rain fell softly most of the morning and behind us, where the sun was to rise, was a solid wall of clouds. Most of the other photographers drove away and about six of us stayed. The Tetons were beautiful but only blues and greys.

But suddenly, in the south, one peak lit up. (If you are a LOTR fan, it was like the beacons of Gondor! 🤓) One after another, coming north along the mountain range, each peak caught the sunlight. Eventually, every peak was lit. And then, for perhaps 5 minutes, the sun slanted across the yellow autumn trees and they turned the brightest gold.

No one spoke. But every face was bright. I was almost in tears. A photo doesn't do the colors justice, but you can have a glimpse into a surreal moment.
